How it works
Gather DNA
Your critters wander their planet and, once grown, give you their DNA.
Mix it in the lab
Put two strands together and see what grows. Nobody hands you the recipes: you find them yourself.
Hatch the eggs
Keep the eggs warm in the nursery. Out comes a new species, a new colour or even a rare mutant.
Bring the planets back
Every critter you find brings its planet a little more back to life. Seven little planets are waiting.

Meet a few critters
There are 65 kinds of critters, each in seven colours. Here are a few you meet early on.
Orb Beetle
Sprout Atoll
Rolls dew drops into perfect spheres and keeps them as pets. The planet's oldest gardener.
Curlworm
Sprout Atoll
Sleeps in a spiral and wakes in a slightly different spiral. Nobody knows which way is the front.
Moss Mite
Sprout Atoll
Three eyes, eight tiny feet and a tuft of moss it refuses to trim. Hums when happy.
Hopple
Clover Prairie
Ears taller than its body. Uses them to feel the wind change before a storm.
Bubblefin
Coral Reach
Blows a new bubble for every thought. It is rarely seen without a crowd of them.
Puffinch
Cloud Roost
A ball of fluff that sings before sunrise. It sleeps inside cumulus puffs and wakes up slightly damp.
Bumblepuff
Sprout Atoll
So fuzzy that it bounces off flowers instead of landing on them. It hums in its sleep.

You start on Sprout Atoll. The other planets open as you go up in level, each with critters of its own.

Clover Prairie

Rolling meadow islands, knee-deep in clover and wildflowers.
Coral Reach
From level 30
A lagoon ring of coral towers and tide pools, lifted clean out of the sea.
Cloud Roost
From level 40
Nests woven into the tops of cumulus towers, where the fliers keep watch over the weather.
Moonlit Hollow
From level 50
A gentle, lantern-lit hollow where friendly ghosts keep the night watch.
Starleaf Sanctuary
From level 60
Silver-leafed groves where the air hums with old songs.
Ember Crown
From level 70
A volcanic ring that glows at dusk, where the dragons wake from their long sleep.
Play together
Add friends by their keeper name and send each of them a gift every hour, with a sticker of Digby on it. Every week there are missions you and your friends fill together.
There is no chat: the stickers say it all.
Good to know
- Is it free?
- Yes. There is nothing to buy.
- Do I need an account?
- Yes: a keeper name, a password and an email address. Your planet is saved online, so you can play on your phone and your computer. The email address is only used for mail about your account, such as a link to confirm it, or one when you forget your password.
- Is it for children?
- Critter Planet is for everyone. There is no chat, and other players only know you by your keeper name. Younger than 16? Ask a parent before you make an account.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. It plays in the browser of a phone, a tablet or a computer.
- Which languages does it speak?
- English and Dutch. You can switch at any time.
